Rumor said that Apple will launch iPhone 7s next year with small change

Sources claim next-year iPhone won’t be a major overhaul
Put this into the “I really hope this isn’t true” category, but there’s a new report out there claiming that the next-year iPhone is very unlikely to bring a major overhaul of the existing design.

In other words, the 2017 iPhone will be very similar in terms of looks to the iPhone 7, which in its turn is very similar to the iPhone 6s, which is very similar to the iPhone 6. To put this simple, the next iPhone will look almost like the iPhone 6, which was launched three years before the new model.

Japanese Apple blog Macotakara, which by the way has a good track on Apple leaks, claims that information coming from Taiwanese suppliers indicates that Apple isn’t planning any of the big changes that we’ve heard about lately, such as wireless charging or a new form factor.

No, instead Apple wants to go for a similar design and feature package, and this is why the company plans to call the new model “iPhone 7s.” There were rumors that Apple might launch the next version as iPhone 10 given the fact that it marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, but if today’s report is accurate, these weren’t true.

The biggest change will be a new color

One of the biggest changes on this slightly updated iPhone will be the A11 processor, which more or less makes sense given the fact that Apple upgrades the chip with every new generation. There won’t be an OLED screen, a Pro model, or a fingerprint sensor integrated into the screen.

There will be a change, however, which Apple allegedly hopes will substantially boost sales: the iPhone 7s could be offered in a red version that would be similar to the existing black matte flavor.

Of course, this is just a rumor for the time being and, honestly, it’s hard to believe it, mostly because Apple not only celebrates the 10th anniversary of the iPhone next year, and it needs something big for this moment, but the company can’t afford to stick with the same design and features when everyone else is innovating.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 will certainly push the innovation level even further, and there’s a chance to get a display with no bezels and fingerprint integrated into the screen, so the next iPhone needs to be truly special to drive Apple’s sales forward.
